The existing large-scale production of 65Mn cold-rolled steel by steel mills cannot meet the personalized needs of end customers, leading many manufacturers to seek customized 65Mn carbon steel strip. So, what should be noted when purchasing 65Mn cold-rolled sheets?
Clarify the ultimate purpose
When communicating with 65Mn suppliers, it is advisable to inform them of the final use of the product. This will enable the supplier to provide preliminary opinions based on product drawings and to confirm specific parameters with steel plant technicians. This will help to avoid producing 65Mn that is not suitable for the final product. To illustrate, the procurement personnel placed an order with us in accordance with the production requirements of the factory. The 65Mn cold-rolled sheet was 1.2mm x 720mm x C with a hardness of approximately HRC25. The product was shipped in accordance with the customer’s specifications. However, upon bending it at 50 degrees, cracks were discovered. Following communication with the customer, we learned that the highest hardness limit requested was HRC25, and that annealed 65Mn cold-rolled sheets would be more suitable.

The delivery hardness of 65mn hot-rolled is 240-270HB. The delivery hardness of 65mn cold-rolled soft is 190-220HB. The delivery hardness of 65mn cold-rolled hard is 300-340HB. The hardness of the material has a direct impact on the subsequent processing quality, and the hardness requirement is a crucial parameter.
